Just announced this early Saturday morning, mainstream media outlets CNN, FOX, and MSNBC all confirm that Senator Joe Biden (D-DE) has been selected by presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) for the vice-presidency of the United States. The senior senator from the tiny state of Delaware will appear with Obama later this morning at a rally in Lincoln, Illinois.

Perhaps best known for his foreign policy experience, it is a really good choice for Obama and having demonstrated his experience during the primary election debates, the American public are aware that with Biden’s help, Obama will be able to shore up his foreign policy to come close to rivaling that of John McCain. Unfortunately, it’s not the same as having the experience yourself, but if you have a surrogate with that experience, I suppose it’s good enough. Biden can be very blunt and straightforward and it appears that the image that will be presented during the general election is that Biden will unleash hell on McCain and the Republican party while Obama will still try and maintain his image of being regal and above all the fighting.

Congratulations Senator Biden on being selected. You’ll need to do some work to help Obama woo the Clinton faithful who would not vote for Obama, but being a Delaware resident for so many years, I’m proud that your selected.

I don’t know…I hate to say it, but I’m starting to think ill about Barack Obama. Don’t get me wrong. I’m still going to vote for him, but I’m rather sick and tired of hearing about how he’s rubbing people the wrong way. It’s bound to happen since all the dirty work comes out during this process, but with perhaps the longest primary election cycle, the news has just been running nonstop and giving people more than they would like.

And in today’s news there are reports that with the imminent selection of a vice-presidential candidate for Obama, he’s managed to piss off the Clinton supporters. However, that’s not to say that Clinton supporters aren’t entirely on the right side of this argument. Actually, they’re to blame for some of this strife - especially those who are bitching and complaining about how they’re not voting for the Democratic nominee (sorry…presumptive) because Clinton’s not that person. Get over it…you want unity, then stop being salty and rally around your party’s candidate. If it’s ideas that you find similar to Clinton and McCain, then why aren’t you a McCain supporter from day one? But that’s besides the point…

But going back to the Clinton VP possibility, Obama had apparently given his word after Clinton bowed out of the primary to discuss the VP-ship with the former first lady and possibly even vett her for nomination. What arose today was that sources close to the New York senator is that Obama did not follow through and will bypass her and offer no assistance. Clinton, of course, is acting like she’s taking the higher ground. Obama doesn’t seem to comment. But could he at least follow through on his promise and learn from Clinton? There are some good ideas that she has and some mistakes that she did and her husband made when they were in the White House.

So please, Senator Obama…please do not piss off your constituents and the rest of the Democratic audience. You are being very arrogant in the way you are doing things. You can be aggressive to your opponents, but do not offend your core base - the Democratic party. Independents believe in you but you and McCain are both not currently uniting the country, but dividing it even more. Let’s shoot for better, okay?

So we’re knee-deep in Barack Obama’s VP watch and he’s all set to announce it tomorrow in the morning. I was watching Larry King Live on CNN since I heard about there being some activity at the house of Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) and the ever close decision that could result in a Obama-Biden ticket. But what really piqued my curiosity and quite honestly, surprise is that Larry King just doesn’t get the concept of text messaging. He kept asking one of the CNN pundits about the way text messaging was going to work.

Larry King: “So when are they going to send the text message?”
Pundit: “Chances are that they’re going to send it in the morning.”

Larry King: “So let’s say that they (Barack Obama’s team) sends out the text message at 6 in the morning. What’s stopping the first person from sending it to CNN?”
Pundit: “We won’t have to worry about it because we’ve all signed up to recieve the text message, Larry.”

Uh…are you serious? Larry…you don’t understand text messaging? What? You honestly thought that it would be sent out in increments? C’mon…that just made Larry lose some credibility with the technology. He’s so old school.

So yet another Kevin Costner movie is set to be released on August 1. Swing Vote looks to be one of those movies with a totally unimpressive plot and ranks up there with Waterworld and The Postman in quality…or lack thereof.

Directed by Joshua Michael Stern, the premise is that by some weird happenstance, Kevin Costner’s character, Bud Johnson, is the last person who is courted by the incumbent president and his opponent and can turn the election into a victory for some lucky candidate.

Is this possible in the United States? No! It’s not possible. The system has enough checks and balances to ensure that there will never be a tie in the general election. Never will you have 100% of ALL registered voters casting their ballots, nor will the popular vote result in a tied electoral vote. In fact, if the electoral vote IS tied, then doesn’t the House of Representatives cast the tie-breaking votes and winds up selecting our next president?

Kevin Costner’s movies have started to stink over the past few years and this is probably one more notch on his belt of movies he should NOT have been in. The plots are absolutely ridiculous and I’m shocked that Kevin doesn’t know how implausible that it could be. Why would the two candidates suck up to the “sole” voter anyways? That’s like saying that 99.99% of ALL registered voters had cast their ballots and now the popular vote rested on one person…totally ridiculous. There are possibly much better plots. How the hell did this get through the studio?

Just explain to me why we’re to blame for everything? Yes, we are to blame for bringing more instability to the Middle East with our asinine war in Iraq, but not in Afghanistan…that was justified (we just dropped the ball on that one). We are to blame for our unwarranted influence in some areas as well…but that’s because the current administration is simply unintellectual and wants to keep moving in a direction until they’ve ruined us all (which they’re pretty close to doing).

But in today’s news, the International Criminal Court has charged the Sudanese president of genocide against the people in Darfur. That’s a good charge and well warranted. But in a CNN.com article reporting on the news, the supporters of Omar Hassan al-Bashir held a rally and shouted “Death to America”. Why? Why is it that if something bad happens, you need to shout “Death to America” or blame America for it? We’re not the only country to charge that the Sudanese government is committing genocide. There are other countries that are doing this. Do you hear them shouting “Death to France”? No…it probably doesn’t have a good ring to it. But hell, when things go bad, why not blame those “meddling Westerners”, right? That’s absurd and people who continue to do this simply because they don’t know who else to blame are retarded and deserve to rot in jail or be in the current situation they’re in.

I’ll admit that we have a lot of problems going on in the world and America is probably a major influencer, but that doesn’t mean that we’re a scapegoat. The Bush Administration has completely f*cked up our foreign policy and changed it from one of peace and dialogue to one of “we’re arrogant and do whatever the heck we want”. Please don’t judge Americans from our stupid leaders in the big White House on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. They’re retards and we’re working to get rid of them come the next election and we’ll finally have some sense and sensibility in our government that’ll help move us away from armed conflict and bring peace back to the country and possibly the world?
