So did you hear the one about the idiot who got his identity stolen?
May 22, 2008
As reported on CNN.com this morning, the founder and “genius” behind LifeLock has had his identity stolen. Not once, but at least 80+ times! Now, it’s not funny to have your identity stolen, but what’s really ridiculous is that you believe that your system is 100% fool-proof and that it’ll catch any unauthorized access of your personal and financial information without your consent - which is basically what LifeLock is offering.
Have you seen their ads? I have…basically it’s a picture of the founder holding his very own social security card and the headline at the top of the ad in big bold letters is his real social security number. You have got to be totally brazen to post that information up there. Yes, it’s a great marketing plow especially to show folks that you have total and unconditional faith in what you’re selling, but c’mon…are you really that naiive about this?
[Attorney Davis] Paris said the fact Davis’ records were compromised at all supports the claim that Tempe, Arizona-based LifeLock doesn’t provide the comprehensive protection its advertisements say it does.
So now people are suing him in a class action lawsuit saying that it’s deceptive advertising. Great…I’m thinking that it is a losing battle for the company, but at the same time, how can you be THAT gullible to believe that a program would work that well. You’re going to experience some hiccups in anything you use and nothing is fool-proof. Guess LifeLock found out the hard way.
