Don’t people know what a weekend is?
May 4, 2008
I’m looking back at my time at my job thus far and I’m shocked at where it’s gone so far. I’ve done some tremendous work and met some great people, but it appears that the honeymoon is now over. Ever since the launch of our new website, I’ve been indulged with a bunch of work. What’s aggravating me is that people just don’t understand how long anything takes to get done. From working on websites to simply developing invitations, these things take time. Just giving me a few days won’t make it better. Please make sure that you understand that the reason why resources ask for a specific amount of time is because there are other projects and it’s to allow them to have some time to rest. You know, the weekends aren’t for working too. I’m really tired of working 7 days a week. In fact, I’d appreciate not having all this stress because I’m really pissed that I’m worrying about work and it’s disrupting the ability for me to have a RELAXING weekend.
Yes…a weekend. You might know what it is, since you’re probably just relaxing and having a blast, but for me, I’m in front of the bloody computer working on your sh*t. So I’d appreciate if you were cognizant of that so you didn’t ask for stuff that’s not mission critical and gave me some goddamn breathing room. Is that too much to ask for? Believe me, when I say “no”, it’s not as if I’m not going to do your work. In fact, it means that I will do your work BUT I’m not able to give you that quick turnaround.
Actually, I would also appreciate it if you didn’t get all high and mighty with me and give me that “you need to work with me on this” approach because frankly, that’s bullshit. I AM working with you, but you know…there are other projects that I am working on - I’m not waiting around wondering what bullshit you’re going to come up with just so I can spend every waking hour making sure that it’s alright. I’m being very systematic about this when it comes to projects, but honestly…it’s getting tiresome.
