Captain America’s either dead or he’s not.
January 31, 2008
So I saw an article online today that says that Marvel Comics is bringing back Captain America. Wait, bringing him back? Why would they bring him back? Well about a year ago, they killed him off. The great Captain America fell at the hands of an assassin who shot him. Yeah, that’s right…after all the scuffles with the Red Skull and other arch-villains, he was brought down by a bullet?!? Yeah, sadly that’s the tale of story.
But, there’s all this good news for comic book aficionados. Marvel Comics is defrosting his one-time former sidekick, Bucky back from their days fighting the Axis of Evil. And yes, the article that I read posed the question about whether or not he’s going to be fighting the symptoms of old age versus actual villains, but according to Marvel, the spunky sidekick was cryogenically frozen by the Russians during the Cold War?!? I’m going to need to see a source on that or at least go back and read a bunch of Captain America comics. So anyways, Bucky is defrosted and puts on the costume of Captain America and continues on the good fight.
Now what pray tell caused this reincarnation (of sorts) of Captain America? Well they seem to think that Bucky would be a popular hero and would reinvigorate the masses to come back and read more issues about how he’s doing to save the world from tyranny and oppression. I’m intrigued, but the problem is that I’m so far removed from the world of comics that it would take me YEARS to find out the right storylines. Why can’t they just make a movie about Captain America right up until where the plot is now. No live action, but animated please.
Go get ‘em Bucky…just make sure that if you die, you’re not doing it like some pussy way the original Captain America did…but I’m sure that Marvel won’t cancel your appearances that soon…
