Mitch Albom’s “For One More Day” on ABC
So yet another one of Mitch Albom’s books went to the small screen tonight, produced by Oprah Winfrey, and is on ABC. I read “For One More Day” a couple of months ago and it was definitely a must-read and saw the first movie production of Mitch’s book Tuesdays with Morrie. The production of Tuesdays with Morrie followed the book pretty well, but when I saw a glimpse of For One More Day it seemed to take it from a different perspective, and that’s not a bad thing. It still reads the same way, but obviously the way the book is written can’t follow the movie word-for-word.
The story of a boy who has to decide between his mother’s love and following his father’s advice after he’s left the family, For One More Day allows Charlie to reminisce on his past and say goodbye to his mother. What’s the twist? Well his mother died a while ago and in this final meeting, Charlie’s life has gone downhill and forces him to re-examine his priorities and evolve into a better person.
