And the next Attorney General Idol is…Michael Mukasey
After probably about a week or so of going back and forth and reading about all the public bullsh*t about how Democrats are not going to support the Attorney General nominee and how Republicans are b*tching about how the Democrats are ruining this country and so on and so forth, the full US Senate approved today Michael Mukasey as the next Attorney General of the United States. He’s going to be taking over for Alberto Gonzalez who has done a fine job of screwing up our Department of Justice and making us all look stupid in the eyes of the international community. Now they’re calling this a controversial nominee. Tell me something…when is a nominee not a controversial one? Simply because they won’t answer a question that you want? That makes them controversial? That proves that they have something to hide? Unless this mythical idealism called “bipartisanship” appears on Judgment Day, every time someone needs to be confirmed in politics, it’s always going to be “controversial”. Since when have we ever received a 100% pure nominee? Even if that person exists, there will always be some nit-picky crap that someone will find that forces it to be in the press for at least a week with Republicans and Democrats calling out and saying that they weren’t against this or for that or some crazy stupid thing like that. Sure, in the future, watch as someone comes along and a senator says that the nominee was caught littering. Now if that’s for the director of the EPA, okay, that has SOME merit, but everything else…does it really make sense to cause an uproar about this?
So Mukasey is our Attorney General for another year. Bush has 365 days to screw us over even more by leaving office with all our federal government in shambles. INS/Homeland Security sucks. Department of Justice has enough problems as it is. Treasury is probably trying to deal with making sure that we don’t screw ourselves over with all the tax cuts and stupid fiscal (ir)responsibility from the Bush administration. Energy is worried about how we’re going to survive without any hardcore efforts to find renewable/alternative fuel sources. The environment is suffering because Bush is for big business and doesn’t give a damn. And the Dept. of Defense is just plain embattled in a fight between Congress and the White House over this stupid war in the Middle East and in Afghanistan. Way to screw us over, Bush…the next president will need at least two terms just to fix the problems.
Mukasey…all I have to say to you is…don’t f*ck up…
But other than that…congratulations.
